Gabriela Szabo is a 7 time world champion, being declared the best athlete in the world. As one of the most famous Romanian sports personalities, the former Olympian athlete settled 3 world records for running 2k, 3k and 5k in 1998 and 1999.
Throughout her career, Gabriela was awarded 3 Olympic medals (gold, silver and bronze) at the Summer Olympics, both World and European Championships.
Gabriela Szabo was the Vice-President of Romanian Athletics Federation, President of Marketing and Communication Section at FRA. She is now a member of the European Athletic Council and Women International Association of Athletics Federation.
A driven, strong woman, Gabriela held several important administrative titles. On March 5th, 2014, she was appointed as Minister of Youth and Sport, being also an adviser for the Minister.
Since 19 august 2014 she holds the honorific title of Romanian Tourism Ambassador, along with other 7 world known sports personalities.
After more than 20 years in sports, she is currently working for ADDECO in the CSR and Public Affairs Department, where she is supporting young people finding their path in life, education, sports and career wise. All of her projects aim youngsters and vulnerable categories.
As part of ADDECO, Gabriela founded the „Sports for Life” social campaign along with Ioana Mucenic and Dana Nae Popa. The purpose of the campaign is to promote mass sport, trying to persuade the parents and children of the importance of sport.
Gabriela also has a PhD in Physical Education and Sport.
